Get started with the magic of fermentation and brew your first delicious batch of kombucha with us! In this hands-on workshop, Felicia will guide you step by step through the brewing process, from growing your SCOBY to flavouring. You'll leave with all the tools—and confidence—you need to continue on your own at home!

The Art of fermentation
Dive into the world of fermented tea and learn:
What kombucha really is and how fermentation works
- How to safely brew your own batch at home
What to look out for (and what to avoid!) during the process - How to flavour your kombucha using different types of ingredients
- How to store and care for your SCOBY
- All the do’s and don’ts to make your booch thrive
You’ll go home with a SCOBY, a starter kit, and a detailed recipe booklet full of tips & tricks. No previous experience needed—just your curiosity and taste buds!
MICROBIAL MAGIC
Kombucha is more than just a trendy drink—it’s a living, sparkling world of microbes, flavour, and creativity. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to harness the science of fermentation to brew your own vibrant and healthy beverage.
We’ll explain the process, teach you how to spot problems, and help you create your personal kombucha through flavouring ideas. Whether you’re in it for the gut health, the fizz, or the sheer joy of brewing—this is your ideal starting point.

Meet Felicia, YOUR TEACHER
Felicia’s kombucha journey started while studying Biology and later Brewing Sciences at the university of Leuven, combining scientific curiosity with a deep love for flavour and fermentation. Amid her many roles at Onan, where she’s been working since 2018, she’s also the mastermind behind our kombucha.
With her background in microbiology, brewing, and sensory science, you can expect a mix of hands-on guidance, science-backed knowledge, and lots of fun!

Onan’s Bar: Parijsstraat 28, 3000 Leuven
LANGUAGES
DUTCH / ENGLISH : We adapt our workshop language to English or Dutch based on the group, and can easily switch between both!
TIME
Please come in time, as we have a tight schedule and we really want to offer you the best experience possible!
7 PM – 9 PM (feel free to come 10 minutes earlier).
DRESSCODE
Dress comfortably and according to season (keep in mind that you might stain your clothing).

Of course, we provide delicious tea, and water!
