ONAN's Direct trade coffee

we go way back,
and we go direct

Coffee plays a big part in the daily lives of so many people.
From the first overwhelming smell in the morning,  to the just as marvellous first sip in the afternoon – it’s almost impossible to find anything else to compare this special moment with, grabbing the hot cup with both your hands and tasting those soothing and flavourful notes that make you feel warm, relaxed and at the same time slightly energized. It’s stunning!

If this is what coffee does to us we owe it to coffee to treat and present it with utmost care, don’t you think so?
That is why we at Onan constantly provide you with the highest possible quality in the most sustainable way. How do we achieve this ?
By working and trading directly with our coffee producers.

The indispensable key for an honest direct trade is a good and personal relationship with the coffee farmers. The exchange of information and knowledge between producer and roaster is of great importance to grow and improve. We treat each other with respect and have a mutual goal: delivering the best possible coffee.
We pay correct prices that transcend the market prices. This way every single person in the coffee chain is treated correctly and room is created for social security, such as schooling, health care and housing. But it is not only about people! We also love mother nature because, after all, she is the one providing us with coffee, so, taking care of her is another crucial part of the direct trade principle.

And when everyone and everything is well looked after, there can be time for growth and science. Being a bit nerdy is extremely cool and all-important! Looking at coffee, a field subject to  climate, through the eyes of a scientist, leads to innovation and the preservation of challenged varieties. Moreover, it will enable us to enjoy those unique coffee flavours for many years to come.
